Paul Bacsich is the founding Director of Matic Media Ltd. With some spells in industry, he had a long career in universities in a variety of teaching, IT and research roles until he decided to branch out in 2003 into a mix of consultancy and senior positions in the commercial world. Since April 2004, Matic Media Ltd has been his main activity, although he maintains a number of academic links and a number of pro bono roles. He finds the time still to carry on some research activity, including his new interest of benchmarking and his long-standing interests in costing and in e-universities and virtual universities. Some of his consultancy work including his editorial role on the UKeU Reports also leads to research outputs.
A recent CV is available: however due to the number of confidential projects Paul has carried out over the years it is not at all complete record – when one is needed, it can be provided. Some recent public CVs are here and there.
Paul is Visiting Professor at the School of Computing Science, Middlesex University, with a particular interest in the Global Campus, an advisor to the Beyond Distance Research Alliance at the University of Leicester, and an external examiner for the Arab Open University. Until recently he was External Examiner at the University of Oxford for a range of computing courses including those delivered over the Internet. (He formerly held similar roles at Middlesex University and the UK Open University.) He also continues to be involved in a number of validation events and course reviews in computing-related subjects at a number of universities. He is on the Commissioning Panel for the ESRC Technology Enhanced Learning Programme (TeL), being run in conjunction with EPSRC and managed as a part of ESRC's Teaching and Learning Research Programme.
